Sick man accused of bludgeoning visiting sister to death at his NH home with bat, hammer
By The Associated Press

CANDIA, N.H. (AP) ' Prosecutors say a New Hampshire architect diagnosed with suspected early onset Alzheimer's disease told police he fatally beat his visiting sister with a baseball bat and a sledgehammer after she overstayed her welcome and started talking about money.

Jeffrey Cook is accused of second-degree murder in the Nov. 9 death of Sandra Griffin at his home in Deerfield, a small town north of Boston.

WMUR-TV reports prosecutors told a judge in nearby Candia on Monday that Cook said he "snapped" and struck his 58-year-old sister in the head.

Cook's sister had traveled from Locust, N.C., to try to help arrange care for him. Her husband tells the Concord Monitor newspaper she planned to help her brother's wife, who was trying to get him into a care facility.

Cook is held without bail. His wife declines to comment.
