Social Security Administration HQ in Md. ends lockdown prompted by shooting near its campus
WOODLAWN, Md. (AP) ' The Social Security Administration has ended a lockdown of its headquarters in suburban Baltimore.
The lockdown was prompted by what Baltimore County police say was a shooting and robbery near the Social Security campus in Woodlawn, just west of the city of Baltimore.
Police say they were called at 11:43 a.m. about the shooting in the woods near Walden Circle, behind the Social Security complex. Police notified the agency, which locked down the campus because the suspect has not been caught.
An agency spokeswoman confirms the lockdown ended about 2 p.m.
The victim, a man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police say he'll be taken to Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
The suspect is believed to have run away.
Social Security spokesman Kia Green said nearly 12,000 people work in the Woodlawn complex.
