Strong Santa Ana winds topple trees, power lines
Powerful Santa Ana winds topple trees, down power lines in Southern California
By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) ' The violent Santa Ana winds in Los Angeles are causing flight delays and hampering efforts to fight a grass fire.

Los Angeles International Airport says 10 airlines are reporting delays in both arriving and departing flights.

The airport says 20 inbound domestic flights and three international ones have been diverted to other airports.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Fire Departments is fighting a two-acre grass fire near Occidental College.

Spokesman Brian Humphrey says police evacuated some people before the department arrived.

He says both air and ground crews are fighting the blaze, which is being fanned by the strong winds.

There have been no injuries or damage to buildings.
