Stuck landing gear diverts US Airways Express jet
Stuck landing gear diverts US Airways Express jet from Phoenix to Bakersfield, Calif.
By The Associated Press

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) ' An airport director in California says a U.S. Airways Express jet bound from Phoenix for San Luis Obispo had to land in Bakersfield due to hydraulic problems.

The Bakersfield Californian (http://bit.ly/oTZ4yp ) reported that the pilots of U.S. Airways Flight 2748 were forced to manually lower the landing gear on Thursday before landing safely at Meadows Field.

No injuries were reported.

Passenger Lesley Smith, of Tempe, Ariz., says the flight crew deserved credit for keeping everyone informed and there was no panic.

U.S. Airways spokesman Andrew Christie says passengers were put on a bus to San Luis Obispo to complete their trip.
