Explosion hits Syrian gas pipeline, state news agency says, blames 'terrorists'
BEIRUT (AP) ' Syria's state-run news agency says an explosion has hit a gas pipeline in central Syria.
SANA said Tuesday's blast was near Rastan in the restive Homs province. The news agency blamed "terrorists."
There have been several pipeline attacks since the Syrian uprising began in mid-March, but it is not clear who is behind them.
The opposition accuses the government of playing on fears of religious extremism and terrorism to rally support behind President Bashar Assad, who has portrayed himself as the only force that can stabilize the country.
