Ted Williams memorabilia to be auctioned in Boston
Memorabilia from baseball legend Ted Williams on display at Fenway Park ahead of auction
By The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) ' Fans can see hundreds of items once owned by Red Sox slugger Ted Williams at a preview of the first major auction of his sports, military and personal memorabilia.

The preview takes place Wednesday through Friday at Fenway Park and is open to the public. The auction will be Saturday and some of the proceeds will benefit The Jimmy Fund, the official Red Sox charity.

Nearly 800 items are up for auction including a baseball that Babe Ruth autographed for Williams. There also are bats, sports awards, letters, checkbooks, fishing gear, hunting guns and military records.

The auction coincides with the 10th anniversary of Williams' death at age 83 and Fenway Park's 100th anniversary.
