WASHINGTON (AP) ' Slugger Ted Williams will win a spot on a U.S. postage stamp next year.

The last baseball player to hit .400 for a season, the Boston Red Sox star will be honored on a forever stamp, part of a set featuring baseball players. Also included will be Larry Doby, Willie Stargell and Joe DiMaggio, whose stamps were announced earlier.

Williams topped the .400 mark in 1941 and hit .344 over a 19-year career, including 521 home runs. He missed all or part of several seasons while serving in World War II and Korea, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. He later became manager of the Washington Senators and was named American League Manager of the Year.
