Testimony: Cain campaign concealed gay aide's role
Ex-staffer testifies that Cain campaign tried to cover up role of gay political adviser
By The Associated Press

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) ' A former staffer for Herman Cain's presidential campaign says aides tried to conceal its link to an adviser who had been ousted as leader of a gay pride group in Wisconsin amid financial scandal.

Cain's former Iowa straw poll coordinator, Kevin Hall, made the allegation in testimony seeking unemployment benefits. An administrative law judge ruled last week that Hall resigned after the campaign tried to get him involved in the alleged cover-up.

Hall testified that some Cain supporters in Iowa were concerned about senior adviser Scott Toomey's history with the Madison Pride Board, which removed him as treasurer in 2008 after discovering financial discrepancies.

Hall says Iowa staffers were instructed to tell anyone who asked that Toomey was no longer involved with the campaign, which wasn't true.
