By The Associated Press

ORLEANS, France (AP) ' Belgian cyclist Tom Boonen led a sprint finish to win the second stage of the Paris-Nice race Monday, and Bradley Wiggins of Britain took the overall lead.

Boonen, who won his fourth Tour of Qatar title last month, edged Jose Joaquin Rojas of Spain and John Degenkolb of Germany in the 115-mile ride from Mantes-la-Jolie to Orleans.

Wiggins took the lead from prologue winner Gustav Larsson by jumping ahead of the Swede as part of a 30-man group that broke out of the main pack shortly after the midway point.

Tuesday's third stage cuts a vertical swath through central France with a 120-mile trek from Vierzon to the Vassiviere lake. The race ends Sunday.
