Police: Turkish helicopter crashes into houses near Afghan capital, killing 10 people
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) ' A helicopter belonging to a Turkish company crashed into houses near the Afghan capital Kabul on Friday, killing 10 people, including eight on board the aircraft and two on the ground, said police.
Authorities were trying to determine the nationalities of the people who were on the helicopter when it crashed, said Mohammad Zahir, head of the Kabul criminal investigation department.
One house hit by the helicopter collapsed, said Zahir. Rescue workers were searching through the wreckage to determine whether there were any more casualties, he said.
The aircraft went down in Bagrami district of Kabul province, said police officer Pashtun, who only uses one name, like many Afghans.
It is unclear why the helicopter crashed.
