US Somali man pleads guilty to terror charge for helping others go to Somalia to fight
By The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ' A man in the state of Minnesota has pleaded guilty to a terror-related charge for helping recruit men to travel to Somalia to take up arms with the terror group al-Shabab.

Twenty-six-year-old Omer Abdi Mohamed pleaded guilty Monday to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.

Mohamed, who lives in a Minneapolis suburb, faces up to 15 years in prison when he's sentenced at a later date.

Mohamed entered his plea the day before he was to face trial on six counts.

At least 21 men are believed to have traveled from Minnesota to Somalia. Prosecutors say Mohamed participated in secret meetings and helped travelers get airline tickets.
