US campaigns, new outside groups to release January financials, revealing donors
WASHINGTON (AP) ' The Republican presidential campaigns and outside political groups are expected to file their January financial reports on Monday.
The reports will provide detail on fundraising efforts surrounding key Republican primary elections last month.
The super political action committees backing the candidates will also disclose their latest batch of top-flight fundraisers, the individuals who can donate unlimited sums of cash. The super PACs have raised tens of millions of dollars and have helped their favored candidates hammer their opponents through television ads.
On Friday, President Barack Obama's re-election campaign reported raising $29.1 million last month, in part drawing on donations to the Democratic National Committee.
The reports are due to the Federal Election Commission by midnight.
