US military: No decision yet on holding trial in Afghanistan for alleged shooter of villagers
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) ' A U.S. military spokesman says that no decision has been made yet about whether to hold the trial of the man accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians in Afghanistan.
Col. Gary Kolb said Wednesday that "no final decision has been made yet" about where the staff sergeant will be tried. He says the U.S. does have the capability to hold court martial hearings in Afghanistan and has done so before but that the determination on this specific case is still being made.
Afghan lawmakers have demanded that the soldier face a public trial inside the country.
