US tight-lipped on Iranian scientist's death
Obama administration declines to acknowledge any role in killing of Iranian nuclear scientist
By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) ' The Obama administration will not say whether the United States had a role in killing an Iranian university professor working at a key nuclear facility.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the U.S. condemns any attack on an innocent person. But she declined to answer a question as to whether Washington was involved in the killing ' or how the administration views the victim, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan,

Reports said two assailants on a motorcycle attached a magnetic bomb to his car, killing Roshan and his driver Wednesday. Roshan was a chemistry expert and director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in central Iran.

The slayings suggest a widening covert effort to set back Iran's atomic program. Iran blamed U.S., Israeli and British intelligence of engaging in a campaign against nuclear-related targets.
