White House security chief: No specific terror plot for the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11
WASHINGTON (AP) ' President Barack Obama's homeland security and counterterrorism adviser says there's no specific or credible threat targeting the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. But he says there are concerns that al-Qaida or a terror-minded individual will see the anniversary as an opportunity to attack.
John Brennan told The Associated Press that officials worry about lone actors operating under the radar who are more difficult for the intelligence community to discover.
Brennan says the FBI has done a good job over the years in tracking down leads and looking for individuals who have an extremist ideology that inspires them to commit violence. And he said the nation as a whole is much better about sharing intelligence than it was 10 years ago.
