Siegel, a former board member, gets nod as CEO of USA Track and Field
USA Track and Field has hired former board member Max Siegel as its new CEO, ending an on-and-off, 16-month search with a transaction similar to a move the U.S. Olympic Committee made a few years ago.
The organization that runs America's biggest summer Olympic sport picked Siegel on Monday, six months after he resigned from the USATF board to become a consultant charged with shoring up the group's flagging sponsorship efforts.
The board had previously ousted the former CEO, Doug Logan.
The move was reminiscent of what happened in 2009 when the USOC unexpectedly pushed out Jim Scherr as CEO and replaced him with board member Stephanie Streeter. She later stepped down and was replaced by Scott Blackmun, who said Siegel has the USOC's full support.
