USOC: IOC talks progress; 2020 bid not ruled out
USOC chief to AP: Progress made in revenue talks with IOC; 2020 Olympic bid not ruled out
By The Associated Press

LONDON (AP) ' U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun tells The Associated Press he's optimistic of reaching a revenue-sharing agreement with the IOC and isn't ruling out a U.S. bid for the 2020 Games.

USOC and International Olympic Committee officials met in New York on Friday and reported progress in resolving their long-running money dispute.

Blackmun tells the AP that the negotiations produced "new ideas" that could lead to a formal agreement in the next few weeks.

He says "we have a structure that we're optimistic about."

The deadline for submission of 2020 bids is Sept. 1.

Blackmun says "as each day goes by, the chances of the U.S. submitting a bid decreases, but as long as there is some possibility, I don't want to rule it out."
