Undecided Iowans weighing who to back
A chunk undecided, Iowa Republicans looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right _ and coming up short
By The Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ' A chunk of Iowa Republicans don't know what they want in a presidential candidate, much less who to vote for.

The ideal one would blend Ron Paul's ideological passion with Mitt Romney's electability. Newt Gingrich's intelligence with Rick Perry's evangelical appeal. Add a dash of social conservatism from Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum ' and stir.

But no such candidate exists. And that's causing indecision among many Republicans.

A Des Moines Register poll released Saturday found 41 percent of likely caucus-goers could be persuaded to change their minds. Another 7 percent had no first choice candidate and 1 percent said they were not sure who to support.
