UK watchdog: Scotland Yard showed poor judgment in its handling of phone hacking scandal
LONDON (AP) ' Britain's police watchdog says Scotland Yard showed poor judgment in its handling of the phone hacking scandal.
The deputy chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission says that senior officers made "imprudent decisions" by maintaining close professional ties to a man who later turned out to be a suspect in the scandal.
The commission's statement Thursday largely focused on links between former News of the World executive Neil Wallis and former Scotland Yard press chief Dick Fedorcio.
Wallis has been arrested but has not been charged and is out on bail.
Fedorcio is no longer with the police force.
