Wendy's CEO, an Arby's veteran, to step down
Wendy's CEO, a veteran of Arby's, steps down to make room for a Wendy's alum
By The Associated Press

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) ' The CEO of the Wendy's Co. fast-food chain is stepping down.

Roland Smith will stay on as an adviser through the end of the year, and will remain on the company's board of directors.

He is being replaced by Emil Brolick, formerly the chief operating officer of Yum Brands Inc. Brolick also worked at Wendy's for 12 years before joining Yum in 2000.

Wendy's says Smith is leaving for personal reasons. Chairman Nelson Peltz says Brolick is "the perfect CEO to lead Wendy's today."

The company is transforming, after selling off most of its stake in the troubled Arby's chain this summer.

Smith, an Arby's veteran, had been CEO of the combined Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. since it was formed in 2008.
