Wife, son of bankrupt Pa. soft drink maker Le-Nature's ex-CEO found guilty of money laundering
PITTSBURGH (AP) ' The wife and son of the former head of bankrupt soft drink maker Le-Nature's have been found guilty in Pittsburgh of laundering millions of dollars stolen in an accounting fraud.
Karla S. Podlucky was convicted Tuesday of three money laundering counts but was found not guilty of conspiracy and another money laundering count. Her 30-year-old son, G. Jesse Podlucky, was convicted of one count of conspiracy and four counts of money laundering.
Prosecutors say the duo bought gold, sapphires and patio furniture with proceeds that ex-CEO Gregory Podlucky stole from the Latrobe-based Le-Nature's before it went bankrupt in 2006. Their attorneys had said they didn't know the money was stolen.
Gregory Podlucky was sentenced last month to 20 years in prison.
His wife and son will be sentenced April 26.
