Wis. Democrats say 2 election wins show governor vulnerable to recall, but hurdles remain
MADISON, Wis. (AP) ' Wisconsin Democrats are brushing aside their failure to seize control of the state Senate through recall elections and vowing to press on with their plan to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
Democratic party officials insisted Wednesday that voters gave their party two of the six Republican-held seats that were up for grabs Tuesday because they are angry at the Republican vision for the country.
But as the party faithful turn their attention to delivering their potentially pivotal state to President Barack Obama in next year's election, they might find it hard to maintain the momentum that's fueled their recall efforts to date.
The Democrats needed to win at least three seats on Tuesday and both recall elections next week that target Democratic incumbents in order to take control of the Senate.
