Oak Crest Mansion Inn
Oak Crest Mansion Inn has stood the test of time and has been branching out after new owners took over ten years ago and invested in restoring the historic home to its former glory. In less than two years, Oak Crest Mansion Inn will reach a milestone as its caretakers celebrate the Pass Christian home's one hundred years in existence, a day that may have never happened had it not been for Chase and Erin Mosely. Owner Erin Mosely said, “I’m not originally from here, but we fell in love with this property. It was the period right after Katrina. It was in a difficult state. It was falling apart.” But the Mosely’s weren’t the only ones eyeing the historic property. “Other people who were looking at the property were looking at tearing down the whole thing and we felt a passion to save it and to have an opportunity for the community to enjoy it.” And enjoy it they have. The Moseley’s ended up buying the home and property back in 2007 and had it restored to its former glory with some new finishing touches by the summer of 2008. Oak Crest Mansion Inn has been the setting for hundreds of events since then. Special Events Manager Stephanie Brauchlae said, “We’re most well-known for our weddings. We have 12 acres of beautiful grounds that we can have a wedding and reception on property for you. We are also open to the community for public events.” The home was built in the 1920s and has a very colorful history, including transportation magnets and even the mob. “There’s a lot of colorful stories about guns being kept under the stairwell,” said Mosely. While the bed and breakfast has several rooms fit for a king, including a room where the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, once slept, you don’t have to be a celebrity to sleep, eat or play here.
