Tonight, the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast held their biggest fundraiser of the year at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi. This year, the theme of the 27th annual Steak and Stake was ‘Blues and Bling.’ It featured blues music, celebrity guest Danny Glover and Robin Roberts, a live and silent auction and a delicious steak dinner. Throughout the night over 500 people learned about the Boys and Girls Club’s mission to serve the undeserved youth in Harrison and Hancock County. Currently they support over 3,400 children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. News 25 spoke to actor Danny Glover who tells us why he supports the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He said, “This is the center of where I need to be today. As they continue their extraordinary work in mentoring and helping the development of young girls and boys into productive citizens of tomorrow and that’s important. So, we are building the future. The Salvation Army provides more than one million services each year to residents in South Mississippi. Tonight, country music singer Jimmy Wayne will take center stage to entertain and serve as keynote speaker at one of the nonprofit’s biggest fundraisers of the year. As a boy, Jimmy Wayne was in the foster care system and he received a guitar from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. Now he is eager to pay it forward and has residents and leaders excited for tonight’s fundraising event at the Hilton Garden Inn in Pascagoula. Hilton Garden Inn Director of Sales and Marketing Tammy Moore said, “The hotel opened in 2014. To my knowledge, this is the biggest celebrity we’ve had other than the secretary of the Navy and former Senator Thad Cochran.” The fundraiser is tonight at Pascagoula’s Hilton Garden Inn.
