Samsung L77 point and shoot digital camera
7 megapixel, 7X optical zoom super thin camera By John Virata

The Samsung L77 is a small form factor point and shoot digital camera that features a whopping 7X optical zoom lens that doesn't retract from the camera body. The camera is super thin, at about an inch thick and 3.5 inches long. Its size makes it ideal for slipping into your front pocket. It features a built in flash, no optical viewfinder, and buttons on the rear of the camera to control the features. It captures 7 megapixel (3072x2304 pixels) images to SD card, or via internal memory, in which it can capture 11 images at 7 megapixels. It can capture images at 1 megapixel (1024x768), 3 megapixel (2048x1536 pixels), 5 megapixel wide (3072x1728 pixels), 5 megapixels (2592x1944 pixels), and 6 megapixel (3072x2048 pixels) images. It also captures 640x480, 30 frames per second QuickTime video as well.

Small form factor digital cameras are probably the most popular type of digital camera on the market today, though Digital SLR cameras are becoming more popular as the price has come down from its $1000 high of four years ago. They are especially popular with those who want a no nonsense, easy to use camera that can go anywhere without having to lug a camera bag.

The Samsung L77 fits perfectly into this category due to its small size. The controls for the L77 are easy to get used to with the still image and movie modes called out in a separate button control, as well as the delete button and review button. The tele and wide angle controls are also located on the back, while the rest of the controls are featured in the standard wheel-type control. You can access the flash, on screen display, timer, and the macro button.

The L77 also features a variety of scene modes to choose from when shooting with your camera. These include Night, Portrait, Landscape, text, Close up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Firework, and Beach & Snow. These cover a variety of shooting scenarios. The scene modes are accessed by pushing the mode button, which is the top button on the camera back.
