Luxury Protection For The Nexus 10
Check out the Portenzo Alano leather case for your Nexus 10
By Lou Wallace

I've been through several cases for a variety of tablets - Kindles, Androids and the Nexus 10, but when I saw the Portenzo Alano I thought - wow, now that's a jacket for a serious tablet.

The Alana is a custom design tablet case made from South American leather for the Nexus 10, with a camera hole, magnetic on/off latch and an added internal wooden protective frame.  It has an elastic strap you can use to keep it closed.

It can include a stand, and offers a personalized engraving option plus a stylus pen option. There are eight optional designs you can choose from, I selected the Portenzo old world map style. Not an easy choice either, there were several I really liked.

Eight leather styles

The tablet fits snugly inside where a maple wooden frame helps protect it. The question always is does it really protect from a fall? Well sorry to tell you that I had no intention of just dropping my Nexus to test this protection.

However, as luck and fate would have it, twice it was dropped, once on a wooden floor, once on carpet. Both falls were about 4 feet, and in both instances the Nexus was fine (whew!). And just in case you think falling on carpet won't hurt a tablet, I had a unprotected 9 inch android tab fall off a table in a restaurant onto carpet and yes, the display cracked severely.

After having used the Alano for 90 days without a problem, I can now give it my full endorsement. It works, it protects and yes it looks really, really nice! The automatic magnetic sleep/wake feature in the cover is a very nice feature. When placed on your desk, boardroom table or on a bookshelf its speaks quality. Pricy for sure, but if you want a case equal to the quality and style of your Nexus 10, this is one well worth looking into.  Rated 5 Stars
