The R57 model is a 1928-1929 manufactured by BMW Motorrad with a two-cylinder, four-stroke engine and shaft drive. She was a sport model with OHV engine, the sister model of the R 52, which was designed as a touring model. As of July 1928 produced the BMW R 62 for the 750 cc class, along with the equally new and largely identical R 52 for the 500 cc class.BMW introduced the modular principle with this bike on. Chassis and gearbox with base engine were largely identical, and the differentiation of the displacement classes with 500 cc and 750 cc, and after sports and touring models has been and two crankshafts with different 10 mm strokes for matching cylinders of the same bore and head-end or side-valve cylinder heads cylinders implemented.
