3.5% Increase Reported In Holiday Retail Sales

Declining store traffic in recent weeks and uneven demand has spurred retailers to risk earnings by boosting offers to generate revenue. Electronics sales were about the same as last year, while women's and men's apparel fell, the researcher said. Analysts say the snafu means delivery companies will need to boost capacity and retailers may need to seek alternatives to prevent a recurrence.
