Top congressional lawmakers had mixed reactions Thursday to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's comments that he was "blindsided' and "stunned" to learn aides may have authorized the closing of highway lanes in an act of political retribution. Christie, a Republican, apologized to the people of New Jersey during a nearly two-hour-long news conference on Thursday. He also announced he had fired top aide Bridget Anne Kelly, whose emails with former Port Authority of New York and New Jersey employee David Wildstein surfaced Wednesday.
