Mercedes-Benz has revealed the high-performance AMG version of the GLA at NAIAS 2014 in Detroit. Previewed by a concept in Los Angeles last November, the GLA 45 AMG looks as you would expect. It adopts a more aggressive styling approach in typical AMG style with beefier bumpers, muscular side skirts and bigger alloys, while at the back there's a quad exhaust setup. Power is provided by a Euro 6-compliant 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine borrowed from the A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG. It delivers a more than adequate 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) transferred to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission. It will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 4.8 seconds onto an electronically-capped speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The GLA 45 AMG can return 37.6 mpg UK (31.3 mpg US or 7.5 liters / 100 km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 175 g/km.
