California Gets Ready for Immigrant Driver's Licenses

By Clip Syndicate
Beginning January 2nd, undocumented immigrants will be able to apply for a driver's license in California. The California license will have the words “Federal Limits Apply” on the front of the card, with an explanation on the back that it is valid for driving in the state but cannot be used for federal purposes. The DMV is preparing for high demand for new licenses. Rosa Nieto, an immigration attorney, told NBC Los Angeles, "People are driving with licenses from their countries or other states with different rules and they are not properly trained in California driving safety. So this will up the safety record for the state of California."
