Sri Lanka's Rajapaksa Loses Minority Support Ahead of Polls

|Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa may have trouble getting re-elected. Political parties mainly representing Sri Lanka's minority Tamils and Muslims account for a quarter of the total vote. They have said they will back Rajapaksa's challenger in a January 8th presidential poll. Twenty three of his party legislators in a 225-member parliament have defected to join his challenger, who has promised good governance, democracy, and an end to corruption.
