http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/6758370?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Thu, 26 Jan 2017 05:22:10 +0000 beau sportscast wednesday night tennis football bball beau sportscast wednesday night tennis football bball http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/6758370?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTSM prayers for her. beau: utep women's basketball head coach keitha adams after learing of the indictment of star player jenzel nash. beau: so here's the breakdown... former utep basketball player jenzel nash was one of seven individuals indicted for bank fraud, allegedly defrauding multiple banks nationwide, from 2013 to march of 2016. nash is charged with two counts of bank fraud, each charge calls up to 30 years in prison. beau: nash was recruited out of houston in 2011, and was named a parade all-american at worthing high school. the 23-year old nash was named first team all- conference last season, earning several more awards during her tenure, but was held out for this season after the preseason game. the indictment begs the question, any ncaa rules violations or possible wins vacated? keitha adams: absolutely not, there has not been any ncaa violations, this has nothing to do with the ncaa rules and so that is not a factor. beau: nash did obtain two degrees at utep, one in criminal justice... the indictment also included former nmsu running back terrance yelder. beau: manwhile, the women's basketball team really could have used jenzel this season, the miners are just 5-13 overall, 2-4 in conference usa... they practiced this afternoon at the haskins center. the miners host western kentucky, 7pm tomorrow night... it's pack the house night, admission is free with a voucher from albertsons or gecu. beau: the new mexico state men's basketball team is rolling, tied for the secong longest winning streak in the nation in 16 games, tied with oregon. gonzaga has won 20 straight. the aggies have overwhelmed opponents, winning by an average of 12 points, but their head coach says defensive focus needs to improve with five of their next six games away from las cruces. paul weir: as the season has evolved, we have made some adjustments on the defensive side of the ball, and now when i look at it, i am not sure i really love where we're at. so we're going to have to continue to tinker with that to be the best defensive team we can be down the stretch. beau: nmsu is at seattle tomorrow night, streamed on the wac digital network. meanwhile, the utep miners have hit the tough stretch of their schedule, next two at western kentucky and uab... trust me, tim floyd is not looking past these games. tim floyd: well we want to win them both but let's face it, these next five, given our record, we're going to be the underdog in all five games, so we have to do a lot of things well to get any win, but let's start with the next one. beau: and that next one is tomorrow at western kentucky... remember the last time these two met, it was the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1966 national championship, utep won in overtime, 93-89. beau: it's the main tournament of mexico, top division and second division teams, bravos looking for their third straight win, hosting first division monterey. let's go to the second half... monterrey strikes... off the deflection... yimmi chara scores and makes it 1-nil monterrey... and that's how it would end... bravos resume ascenso, second division play when they travel to tamaulipas on saturday to face tampico madero. beau: some of the best in the nfl--who aren't injured or playing in the super bowl--are gathered in florida for sunday's pro bowl. both the afc and nfc were out on the practice field today at the disney complex down in orlando. this is just the third pro bowl ever to be played outside of hawaii. several dallas cowboys, including dez bryant, and rookie dak prescott participating. the game takes place sunday at 6pm mountain time. beau: step one of what tennis fans in the u.s. are hoping for, an all williams final at the aussie open. venus williams facing 2010 el paso hunt communities tennis champ coco vandeweghe. they split the first two sets... this in a third set... ??? more news after the break.
