http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6798890?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 22 Feb 2017 15:29:04 +0000 Bridge Street: Skaneateles Women's Ice Hockey 2.22.2017 The Skaneateles Women's Ice Hockey team celebrate on Bridge Street their Title and State Championship win after a very successful season. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6798890?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WSYR ABC 9 Syracuse [laughter] >> oh, what a season of was! not only did the skaneateles girls hockey team make it all the way to the championship game against orchard park, you see here, they won the game in the title, and more than that, the wind 19 and zero on the season. >> you are so excited to be joined by some of the team, as well as their coach, andy rozak this morning. >> good morning to all. >> good morning! >> well, andy, what a team! what a season! 19 and zero. so how's it feel to have had this much success is your? >> it was an amazing feeling. when the final buzzer went, it was good to see all of the hard work pay off, a lot of fun. >> so sophie, i mean, first of all not everybody gets to become a champion period in the nba or anything, any kind of professional or college sports, you are a champion here at high school. what is this mean to you, how does it feel? >> have meant so much. a couple of girls on the team a couple of girls when we tied for the championship, it was amazing to win it flat out to get the title for ourselves. and it's amazing feeling as a senior with the other seniors on the team, it's a great way to go out and we can ask for anything better. >> abby, i want to know what you think attributes to your success? >> we just had a lot of team building. we always work together, and i guess it just paid off in the lp. >> speaking of working together, andy, you have three different schools combined to make up the team? >> yes, three different teams, skaneateles, west and east la. they pick each other up and they were together. like i said, you cannot tell who goes to which school. >> so what i think is amazing is that you guys practice five days a week, that right?>> yes. >> for the whole season, that is a lot of work. how did you logistically do that with these kids coming from all different areas of central new york? >> well, actually everyone is at practice early to be honest. we go there early and stay late in the weight room. put in a lot of time and effort but it paid off. they are a great group which worked hard and were determined. >> so i also sure that you guys took some yoga? >> yes. >> hockey players, you probably don't think yoga. >> yes. >> does somebody want to that, sophie? >> well, we would also do team work as after practice, or like squatting and bench pressing. after practice, we would be very sore.it was hard to escape. so we implemented yoga early in the season and we try to do that before games, and it was just a good way for not only team chemistry and bonding, but to get a construction before the game. >> and i have a question for you, andy. what you think that this speaks to in terms of girls hockey right here in central new york we as a canadian, i know how important hockey is! [laughter] >> but what does it mean here for central new york? >> it's great. totally able to girls hockey to the next level. the sport is growing and i hope that this continues to grow. this is a big accomplishment for girls hockey for this area. >> while i was going to say, we have a special girl here today, the daughter of one of her coworkers. >> she is! [laughter] >> christiana's daughter, hi! [laughter] >> you know, i remember christy telling me last year that you had an injury, right? >> yes. >> so he overcame her
