http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6804105?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Sat, 25 Feb 2017 07:27:49 +0000 Friday Sports February 24 Kari Bustamante has game 3 of the Governor's Cup series between UAA and UAF hockey, a Guns n Hoses preview, ASAA skiing, Iron Dog and Fur Rondy Sled Dog Races http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6804105?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTUU it'll be a dramatimaending no mr the outcome for uaa hockey...a sweep can secure the seawolves the coveted governors cup...while even one loss means the end of the season --tonight its game 3 of the cup series...uaa and uaf split their early games...so a win for the seawolves puts the team is good position to end uaf's 7 year reign... --lets head to the first...games scoreless and uaf on the powerplay...tyler cline with the wrister...1- nothing nanooks.... --now 2 nothing uaf...uaa looking to answer...dylan hubbs cross to jarrett brown...what a beauty...uaa cuts the lead 2-1... --the seawolves would tie it up courtesy of mason mitchell..but uaf leading 3-2 into the second...mitchell back door.....were tied 3-3 entering the third... --now, under 7 minutes remain in regulation...uaa tries to clear...but brandon morley picks it up and troy van teetering puts it away... uaf takes it 4- 3...uaas post season hopes are no more, the seawolves last game of the season will be tomorrow night with the governors cup still up for grabs the governors cup isn't the only showdown at the sully this weekend, as the annual guns and hoses game takes the ice this sunday --its the 17th annual charity event...with our anchorage police department taking on the anchorage fire department --all proceeds will go to providence children's hospitals "cure kids cancer" program... --tickets are 5 dollars at the door...and kids are free its entertaining to see the afd and apd lace up the skates in the name of raising money for a good cause its a good family event and hopefully entertaining for everyone that comes the game is sunday at the sullivan arena...puck drops at 2 pm well racers are closing in on the finish line in this years iron dog race as teams are being held in tanana until tomorrow mornings restart... -- team 8 has given itself perfect position for a repeat...as tyson johnson and tyler aklestad are into tanana and on hold...they'll be released to fairbanks at 8 am --second is ryan simons and cory davis...they will leave tanana around 9:14 am tomorrow.... --also into tanana, chad gueco and dusty van meter...klinton and kris vanwingerden...as well as jason gunderson and josh norum speaking of sleds....for the first time in 3 year the fur rondy open world championship is looking like itself again...after being cancelled in 2015 and shortened in 2016 --we're finally back to a full 25 miles, as day 1 of the 3 day championship wrapped up this afternoon --leading the pack, roxy wright....with a time of 1 hour 28 minutes 40 seconds --second john erhart..1 hour 33 minutes 20 seconds... --and buddy streeper third just ten seconds off erhart and finally...our great state has produced some of the world best nordic skiers...and for many it starts with capturing the coveted title...of skimeister --its day 2 of the as-double-a state cross country skiing championships at kincaid --a mass start for the girls and boys freestyle races...lets start with the boys 10k race --yesterdays classic champ gus schumacher does it again, he is your 2017 skimeister...schum achers combined time 42 minutes 52 seconds, nearly 20 seconds faster than your runner up luke jager.. --the win helps service boys stay in the lead for the team competition as well.. it feels really good i know these guys are super good skiers and to win against them really means a lot to me --and in the girls race...a 7 and a half kilometer course... --she was the runner up by tenths of a second yesterday, and she gets the title today...its west molly gellert.. --your skimeister wins in a combined time of 34:34.2..nearly 20 seconds faster than her eagle teammate magdaline york... --the one two finish for west helps keep the eagle girls atop the team standings ive never gotten a chance to be the skimeister before i missed state last year so its awesome it feels pretty good
