"when we were in tanana we got a text message showing us a picture asking us about it. we explained our point of it, and that's about all we found about there." the rule says no other assistance of any kind including physical contact with the pit crew will be permitted "they acknowledge that we told them not to touch it, and they did anyways, and then they got away." johnson says the disqualification comes after photo surfaced of spectators pushing on the back of their sleds while the team was fueling. "this was the act of outside persons trying to help, and in no way should it result in the actions that made by the disqualification, team 8 should be allowed to continue leading teams at the checkpoint to sign a letter in support of johnson and akelstad. "it was wrongfully put out there we were disqualified there was a mistake and they'll clear it up." making a point to speak with race officials after they finished the race "all finals decisions, all final rulings happen tuesday 5pm following the finish. a new rule to the race that could make a huge difference. "give ourselves some time if there is some new information if there is additional time to consider it possibly it will change the outcome." leaving those who won today with mixed emotions. "i mean that's why i am kind of having a hard time with everything right now, it's pretty sombering we were really excited for how we were doing. to win like this, it's still a win, but it's probably not as sweet if it would be if we had fully earned it. it feels like a gimme a little bit, but i'm still really happy." here is a look at what we beielive is the final leaderboard. first place team 41 ryan simons and cory davis. crossing the finish line shortly after team 17 chad gueco and dusty van meter third place micah hiss and ryan sottosonti. the vanwingerden brothers claiming 4th. rounding out the top 5 todd minnick and nick olstad. i was told tyson and tyler did not to speak at tonight's banquet. like we mentioned before race results are not official until tuesday. follow ktuu for any updates or breaking news reporting from fairbanks patrick enslow channel 2 sports from the dogs to the wolves...uaa hockey is on the ice for the final game of the season, with the governors cup still up for grabs... --its game 4 of the series between uaa and uaf...the nanooks with a game advantage after yesterdays 5-4 win.... --to the second period we go....games scoreless...chase van allen shot from the point, tad kozen with the rebound...uaa is on the board, 1 - nothing --but less than two minutes later, nanooks on the power play...zach frye with the slapshot...and we're tied 1-all...it would remain that way through regulation so we head to overtime --the seawolves needed to win the 5 on 5 overtime for a chance to claim the governors cup... nanooks tayler munson would get the empty netter in the frame, uaf with its 8th straight governors cup win...2-1 the final we needed to get the puck out of the zone it was a nice pass by my teammate really credit goes to him --also in action today...the aces visiting the manchester monarchs... --the glacier blue battled back from a 2 goal deficit to force overtime, but ultimately fell 5-4 in the extra frame... --between the pipes michael garteg made 41 saves in the loss --the aces remain on the road for 8 more games...before returning to alaska march 15th also on the road today....the rondy world championship sled dog races took to the streets of downtown...it's day 2 of the 3 day event... --todays 25 mile sprint features a reverse starting order....meaning yesterdays leaders bring up the rear... --after two days and 50 miles, lina streeper is 3rd with a combined time of 3 hours 4 minutes... --buddy streeper moving up one spot at 3 hours 1 minute --and roxy wright remains in the lead at 2 hours 57 minutes....your winner be determined tomorrow the regular season came to a close tonight for uaa basketball...both the men and women already locked in the gnac standings prior to today --but both teams still look to finish strong, lets start with the men hosting central washington --suki wiggs with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists as the wolves get the win on senior night, 84-72 --uaa also with 21 points from spencer svejcar and 18 from diante mitchell... --the men finish their home campaign with a perfect 16-oh record as for the women, uaa finishes a perfect 20 and oh and the wolves rally past the clan to win 77-72 autummn williams nets 18 points...as the team sets a school record 23rd consecutive win after 3 days of competition, the as-double-a state skiing championships concluding at kincaid park today --after todays mixed relays, we have our official team title winners...or rather winner, because west gets the sweep for the girls and boys --the girls led by skimiester molly gellert and magdaline york...the boys by luke jager and sam york... finally tonight ... one
