http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12513/6833796?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Fri, 17 Mar 2017 15:24:19 +0000 Finnbin baby box baby box from FinnBin http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12513/6833796?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City >> so if you are expecting or know anyone who is, you want to pay especially close attention to this very cool new yet old trend. i'm here with sawn, thank you for being here. >> of course, thanks for having me. >> so start off by just telling us a little bit about where this concept came from. >> the cardboard box sleeper came from the finland, so the government in finland provides a cardboard box, to all expecting parents in finland. they introduced the program in the 1930s when they had a really high infant mortality rate, since introducing it they have one of the lowest mortality rate ntion the world. the concept is starting to take off across the world. we're brnging it here to the united states. >> that is neat. so obviously very historic. and it's literally a special kind of cardboard but it is cardboard. >> it is corrugated cardboard at the bottom is an infant sleeping pat with a water resistant cover and a hundred percent cotton fitted sheet. >> yeah. >> so what do you call this? >> this is a baby box. but we call it a boxinet. >> playing off the words of the bas net and a cardboard box. we have a little fun. >> so what are, i mean you nengsed that mortality rate and i'm wondering why. i mean what about a baby sleeping in this is safer as opposed to like a crib or something like that. >> the main thing that is sides, sudden infant death syndrome. the death of an otherwise healthy baby, typically while sleeping before the age of one. so as a developed country you think the u.s. is ranked pretty high but we are ranked 26th in the world it only accounts for 1600 deaths a year but something compleatly avoidable. so the american academy of pediatrics, if you go to aap.org you can see the sleep eggs recommendations but the box checks all the boxes. stuff such as put the baby on its back when it's sleeping. mack sure it has a firm service to sleep on. you know, even when are you in the kitchen. the good thing about i a baby box is you can move it from room to room f you are in the kitchen it is portable and you can bring it with you. >> or take it to grandma and grandpas or wherever. >> and i love what you have done. because you kind of have a modern twist. >> we do. >> and a lot of great things to go along with it if people want. >> that's right. that's right. so we have two product variations so we sell just the box with the infant sleeping pad and the cover. but we also have what is known as the original bundle. so we have nearly 50 products in the original bundle it values at over $800 but we sell it for $450. literally everything from wipe, diapers, swadel, bottles, clothes, books, you name it. so basically all the must-have essentials for new parents. >> our producers did their home work and they really did. they looked at your website. they looked at the products and they did their own kind of compare analysis and said yes, it is upwards of $800 worth of things. so really 450 sounds like a lot but it's not when you consider what you are actually getting. so obviously so many products. how did you decide which products to put in to the box. >> so my cofounder and i are both parents. i have a six month old at home. so my wife and i, we were totally overwhelmed by this whole process of becoming parents. we thought we needed a stressfree way to prepare. and we do our homework, we want a conciencious products, stuff that is good for the earth, stuff that is good quality, organic. and so we literally would go on google and do our homework and kind of curated all of this for the box. >> let's look at a few things you have here. what are some of your favorites. >> some of my favorites, magnificent me is really neat, as a father, trying to change a dieper in the middle of the night, instead of glirps or buttons, this is just magnets. we thought that one was really cool. >> that is genius. >> isn't it? >> why hasn't anyone thought of that before, that is so great. what else. >> we think this company is set to explod, it is so cool. >> "la la land" was one of the most successful slacker tank companies, they have an anti-kollic nipple on their bottles and pacifiers. we have both. aiden and ana provided the desoon on the outside of our box but we also have swad els changing pads, bibs, towels, wash cloths. >> you know exactly what parents need. so this we're so excited because we are going to have sean with us on facebook live just after the show, so tune in and we will continue this little tour of the box. fin bin.com is where people can go. thank you so much for being here. and congratulations on a tbreat company. >> thank you, thank you, thanks for having me. >> absolutely. okay,
