Dog injured in tornado returns home Tue, 28 Mar 2017 03:00:39 +0000 Dog injured in tornado returns home Dog injured in tornado returns home WEHT brad-- a family lost everything last month to a tornado -- but tonight received a glimmer of hope with their dog... hello, i'm brad byrd.shelley-- i'm shelley kirk.their not so little puppy was returned home-- thanks to technology. eyewitness news leanne stuck has our tuscy o' daniel he is a friendly giant ... who loves to wander around his crossvile, illinois home.but his family got a major shock when the vanderburgh county sheriffs department called to say they found tuscy in evansville .... an hour away.( aaron o'daniel -- owner)"i had no idea he was even missing we were working here at the house we are building till about 3 o clock and he was there with us he went over to our mother and father in laws and we went home "the sherrifs department used new technology to contact the o'daniel family.(kerri blessinger ---vanderburgh county sheriffs )"so we used our new pet scanners and checked for a chip and got a response with he owners information so we contacted the owner saved animal control from having to come out late at night "the o'daniels identifying tuscy by an injury he got under his left eye during the tornadoes that struck crossville in february. those tornadoes also leveled their future home.(aaron o'daniel )"there he was you couldn't tell him from the ground he was just brown and that was the only mark he had on him "the family so grateful to have him home.(aaron o'daniel )"he had some help getting over there so we are just thankful he was chipped and they had the readers at the sheriffs department so everything ended up good " (kerri blessinger )"he came into our roll call hopping up on the table putting his paws up wanting to see everybody he was quite the gentle giant "the family was so grateful for the micro chip technology saying they probably saying they probably would never have found their dog in evansville otherwise.the sheriff's office also wants to remind you to not only make sure your dog has a micro chip but to make sure that information on the chip is updated as well.
