Does it work? (The Air Scale) Thu, 30 Mar 2017 12:51:43 +0000 Does it work? (The Air Scale) Does it work? (The Air Scale) KOTA travelling can be fun, but there's a lot to consider to make sure everything goes the way you want it to. and making sure your luggage weighs the proper amount can save you some headaches at the airport. that's why you may want to weigh getting the air scale. shane konicki puts it to the test in does it work. does it work air scale>> <vo - ah, the airport. a magical place where you can check in, hop on a plane, and be in a new, exciting place in a matter of hours. in order to have a happy airport experience though, you need to do a little planning ahead. turn on cam-" for instance- no one wants to be the person that has to dig through their bag at the ticket counter trying to decide what to leave behind to make sure their checked luggage meets the weight limit. well, the makers of the air scale say the days of wondering how much your bags weigh...are gone." commercial- charge your device over two full cycles and weigh up to 80 pounds of luggage. the adjustable hook holds just about any bag handle. and the sleek led display adapts to your preferred metric. so a portable scale slash device charger that we pi cked up online for about 50 bucks ..., but does it work? in order to find out if the air scale measures up, i enlisted the help of jeff with southwest airlines. each day southwest helps travelers and their luggage get to and from their desired destination. and in the process... they weigh a lot of bags. "so jeff you've got a lot of heavy bags that usually sit on this. do you think this device will be able to measure up to the type of bags you usually place on this scale?" "oh, i think so. it actually looks like a pretty hefty device. our scales are calibrated every year, once a year, so you know the weight is exactly accurate on these. so i'd be interested in seeing how it stacks up to it." to test the airscale we'll weigh 2 different bags of luggage. first with the air scale, and then with the scale at southwest. first up bag 1. jeff clips the strap on to the air scale, and sets it from charging mode to scale mode. he clips it onto the luggage and reads 29 pounds. he weighs the same bag over to their southwest scale- sot-" and right about it was about a pound difference. right about a pound difference. " we try the second bag. it's a little heavier. and the air scale has a problem with that. "no..does that just say no. yup." the air scale can't handle our bag that weighs 70 pounds even though the instructions say it can weight up to 80. "-right it's under the limit and it's not registering. " so we decide to take some weight out and try again. our weight with the air scale for this bag... sot- "just under 40." he weighs the bag on the southwest scale- sot - "about 40 pounds. around 40. so it is, would you say it's pretty accurate? i'd say it's pretty accurate, yeah." sot-" i believe it performed as far as the weight, it did really well. when it gets to a certain weight and it doesn't register, i could see that being an issue. as accurate as it seems to be. like if they're doing this before they get here, in line it's going to speed up the process, i would definitely recommend it myself to our passengers or friends. i got to ask you though, does it work?" "i would say it works, yes." ch>> shane and jeff also were able to test the device charging element to the air scale, and jeff said that worked as well. .
