BRIAN VICKERS, THE NASCAR CHAMPION AND KATIE HOFF, THE THREE-TIME OLYMPIC MEDALIST, BOTH SUFFER FROM LIFE (AND CAREER) THREATENING DVT AND PE BLOOD CLOTS. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12493/6869638?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WBRE >> two stars from sport world teamed for 100 days of awareness in honor of 100,000 americans that die from you pe blood clots. ryan vickers nascar and katie hofolympic gold medalist. suffer from these issues. and join from us new york city with more. brian, katie nice to talk to you today. >> thank you for having us. >> start with you. you are a captain for race of champions racing final. and how is this experience different from being in the driver's seat? >> it was very different. i was honored to be a captain for america's team at the race of champions. an event i love. and i was sea sad not to be driving. they may have talked me in to driving next year. we will see. >> now what about the campaign itself what are you trying to accomplish, when you talk about blood clots? >> well, we are trying to raise awareness and about the issues. and we are trying to save lives. unfortunately as you mentioned 100,000 people a year die due to blood clot related deaths pulmonary embolisms and very fortunate to not be on that list. and we have been fortunate to partner with janssen and national blood clot alliance for 100 days to raise awareness about these issues. and you know, and part of that process for us is really telling our stories. you know every story is different and we can tell our stories and what happened to on us. and you can see that online and proud to say that every time someone watches this story janssen donates to raise awareness. >> katie you representing the united states. quite an honor? >> such an honor. i think, you know, looking back on my career, it really sinks in, just how incredible that experience was. and such a baby. tell you know, overwhelmed. never been out of the country. so now looking back, definitely can quite an experience never to forget. >> what about the diagnosis of blood clots. when you heard that. how did that have an impact on you personally and in your sports career? >> well, my gosh. i wish i had enough time to truly go into, that but briefly, yeah, it was such a shock. i didn't understand any of the signs and symptoms of pulmonary embolism. so that's actually why i am proud to be part of the campaign. to have people really go ask your dr. understand the signs and symptoms. and you know go to treat my clot.com. to just really hear my story more in-depth because i have a lot to say about it. >> i think people will check out the stories online. of course, help out with blood clots. brian vickers and katie
