http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/6869868?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 12 Apr 2017 17:03:28 +0000 Gifting Easter Pets The responsibility of gifting Easter pets. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/6869868?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KLBK target or victim of online scams. they say they're looking forward to lowering that percentage. brittany with easter now just days away some parents may be heading out to feed stores or farms to try and get their kiddos a cute little easter pet. but as klbk's leslie adami reports wildlife experts say not too fast. leslie adami, klbk news a lot of folks this time of year like to give little guys like this away as an easter gift, but before you do that, there's a lot more to it than you might think. the south plains wildlife reahbilitation center predicts they'll be seeing a lot of parents come in after easter -- bringing in dozens of ducklings, baby rabbits and chicks they realize they can't handle taking care of. and the reasons vary -- sometimes it's allergies, or the mess these animals are capable of leaving behind or just not having enough space. these ducks are 2 weeks old and are already far larger than this one-week old who was just brought by a couple of days ago...and they'll only get bigger. folks at the shelter say they see this problem every year -- and wish more parents would do their research before buying these pets for easter. gail barnes, executive director of the wildlife rehabilitation center "they grow very fast they are messy and they do live for several years, so you need to be able to take care of them. ducks are not born knowing how to swim. so if you think you can buy a duck and go release at a playa, take your kids and go out to a playa and release it. you're going to watch it drown...ducks have to learn to swim." leslie adami "barnes says the best tip, is simply keeping yourself educated. and we'll meet this little guy again on wildlife friday at noon, but for now at the wildlife rehabiltation center, i'm leslie adami klbk news." brittany barnes also shared the center's "duck hut" has to be cleaned ou several times a day --
