And the legends of golf tour tees off this weekend - hear some thoughts from some of the legends themselves The first round of the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar Lodge will officially tee off this Friday. And while it's the fourth year, there are some new faces at the tournament this year. John Daly won't be the only rookie here at the Legends. Two time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal is one of ten newcomers to this unique team format. The Spanish golfer will team up with countryman Miguel Angel Jimenez. "I'm used to playing with Miguel. And we've played Ryder Cup which is a team event. But I think what makes it really different is we're playing par threes," Olazabel says. Olazabal has heard about the par three Top of the Rock and cant wait to take his swing at the 232-thousand-500 dollar first place check. "You do have a lot of elevation changes but it's a wonderful layout. The par threes are beautiful and quiet demanding actually. You know six or seven irons, even a five iron for one of them. The water features are very important to those par threes. The scenery is second to none." Olazabal, Jimenez and the other 47 teams are most likely going to get wet this weekend. Rain is in the forecast for the first and second rounds. However, it should be sunny on champinship round on Sunday. -------------- Fresh off a third place finish at state and the Kickapoo boys basketball team will have to search for a new head coach. As Dick Rippee accepted the same position at Bentonville High School in Arkansas. I spoke with Coach Rrippee Wednesday and he described the move as a family decision. He has a daughter that plays volleyball at the University of Arkansas and will now be closer to her. The move is pending board approval on May 1. Rippee has coached at Kickapoo since 2009 and holds a 250 and 91 overall record. He has led the Chiefs to five conference titles, a second place finish at state in the 2015, 16 seasons. And then a third place finish this past March. Rippee coached at Parkview and Evangel before going to Kickapoo.
