http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6881860?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Fri, 21 Apr 2017 02:47:56 +0000 Grant Arnold reacts to late penalty in game three The Mallards Wing was sent to the penalty box fr playing without a helmet http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12452/6881860?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WHBF 3 the mallards brought the energy into the iwireless center last night--down 2-0 in their playoff series with the fort wayne komets. that was made evident after michael parks put them on the scoreboard just over one minute into the game. but what soon followed was a constant back and forth battle between the two rivals. late in the third period the mallards were down 3-2 when alex petan fired a shot on net in perfect position---that would eventually send them into overtime. but the komets would start with a power play due to a penalty by grant arnold for playing without a helmet just moments before the end of the third period. as he was leaving the ice he saw an open shot and chose to block it---resulting in the penalty. and then 22 seconds into overtime---kyle thomas got one past c.j. motte to give them the 3-0 series lead. here's reaction from the team on the penalty---and facing elimination. (grant aronld/mallards wing) "i'm really looking forward to watching the video. i don't really know how my helmet came off, but it was something that happened. and at that point i was looking to go to the bench and change, and then i saw that they had the puck in the slot and i wasn't gonna let them get that puck through, so i went down and blocked it. and that's a penalty in this league, so."(phil axtell/mallards head coach) "it was a tough one to swallow. grant blocks a shot with no helmet face first, i mean he'd do it again if he had to. it's just one of those rules in the echl that came back to bite us."(sam warning/mallards wing) "anytime you lose a game like that it's big. we're down 3-0 in the series right now, but we can't really do anything but move forward. we've got two home games here coming up this week and so our mindset's on
