FIRST UP FOR THEATERS THIS WEEK IS PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. IT STARS JOHNNY DEPP AS CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW OF COURSE AND JAVIER BARDEM AS THE NEW VILLAIN. HE PLAYS CAPTAIN SALAZAR, WHO WAS DEFEATED BY JACK IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS AND HAS NOW RESURFACED AFTER HE ESCAPES FROM THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE, OR AS WE MIGHT KNOW IT, THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE. THIS IS THE LAST FILM IN THE SERIES. THEY KEEP TOUTING IT AS THE FINAL ADVENTURE. CAPTAIN SALAZAR AND HIS GHOSTLY CREW REALLY LOOK LIKE THEY'RE SIMILAR TO CAPTAIN BARBOSSA AND HIS CREW OF DEAD PIRATES FROM THE FIRST ONE, EXCEPT THIS TIME THEY CAN WALK ON WATER INSTEAD OF BEING SKELETONS. MOST OF THE ORIGINAL CAST IS RETURNING. ORLANDO BLOOM IS COMING BACK AS WILL TURNER SLASH DAVY JONES AND KIERA KNIGHTLEY AS ELIZABETH. THE FILM LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF FUN. IT'S GOT THE FAMILIAR PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN SCHTICK. THIS LOOKS LIKE A RETURN TO FORM FOR THE PIRATES SERIES. I WASN'T A BIG FAN OF THE FOURTH ONE, BUT I'M EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET FORM THESE MOVIES. IT'S JUST GOING TO BE A FUN, ENTERTAINING TIME FOR THE FAMILY. THE ONLY OTHER BIG RELEASE THIS WEEK IS BAYWATCH STARRING DWAYNE JOHNSON, ZAC EFRON AND ALEXANDRA DADDARIO. THIS LOOKS LIKE A FUN COMEDY, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE DOING WHAT THEY DID WITH TWENTY-ONE JUMP STREET WITH THIS ONE, WHERE THEY'RE JUST INJECTING A BUNCH OF ADULT HUMOR INTO A CAMPY NINETIES TV SHOW. THE STORY BASICALLY FOLLOWS THE BAYWATCH CREW AS THEY'RE PROTECTING THEIR BEACH AND THEN THEY FIND OUT THERE'S A DRUG RING GOING ON INSIDE OF IT, SO THEY DECIDE TO TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS WITH COMEDIC RESULTS BECAUSE HONESTLY NONE OF THEM LOOK LIKE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND DWAYNE JOHNSON IS PLAYING THE LEADER WHO LOOKS LIKE HE'S JUST A LITTLE TOO INTO HIS JOB. IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE VERY MUCH AN R-RATED ADULT COMEDY, SO IF YOU'RE JUST LOOKING FOR A REALLY FUN, RAUNCHY TIME, THEN BAYWATCH IS DEFINITELY THE MOVIE TO GO SEE. SO THOSE ARE YOUR TWO REALLY BIG RELEASES IN THEATERS THIS WEEK. IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE BRAVING THE CROWDS AND YOU JUST FEEL LIKE CHILLING AT HOME, YOU CAN CHECK OUT THESE MOVIES THAT CAME OUT ON BLU RAY THIS PAST TUESDAY. FIRST UP IS GET OUT DIRECTED BY JORDAN PEELE OF THE KEY AND PEELE COMEDY DUO AND IT ALSO STARS DANIEL KALUUYA AS THE MAIN CHARACTER. THE FILM FOLLOWS AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAN AND HIS WHITE GIRLFRIEND AS HE GOES TO MEET HER FAMILY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND STRANGE THINGS ENSUE AS HE COMES TO FIND OUT THAT OTHERS LIKE HIM HAVE BEEN KIDNAPPED AND DISAPPEARED. IT'S VERY MUCH A PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR SLASH THRILLER MOVIE THAT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH HYPNOSIS AND WHO'S REALLY IN CONTROL OF YOUR MIND. THE TRAILER IS CREEPY AS ALL GET OUT AND EVERYONE I KNOW WHO'S SEEN IT SAID THAT IT WAS TERRIFYING, SO IT LOOKS LIKE A VERY, VERY GOOD MIND-BENDING MOVIE. IT'S SCARY, IT'S TENSE, IT'S JUST DISTURBING TO BE HONEST AND IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MOVIE FOR ANYONE WHO'S A FAN OF A GOOD PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR FILM. SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN GET OUT, I WOULD DEFINITELY PICK THAT UP. AND FINALLY THIS WEEK FOR BLU RAY, LOGAN CAME OUT. IT'S THE FINAL OUTING FOR HUGH JACKMAN AS WOLVERINE. THE FILM FOLLOWS CHARLES AND WOLVERINE AS THEY'RE HIDING FROM TRANSIGEN, A MUTANT-HUNTING PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY AND ALL OF MUTANTKIND IS AT THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION. AS THEY'RE HIDING AND PREPARING TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY, THEY COME ACROSS A YOUNG GIRL WITH A VERY SPECIAL CONNECTION TO WOLVERINE. WHAT FOLLOWS IS BASICALLY A WESTERN-STYLE CAT AND MOUSE ROADTRIP MOVIE AS THEY TRY TO GET HER WHERE SHE NEEDS TO GO. IT'S A VERY EMOTIONAL, VERY TOUCHING MOVIE. IT DOESN'T EVEN FEEL LIKE A SUPERHERO MOVIE. IT'S A VERY FITTING SENDOFF FOR HUGH JACKMAN AS WOLVERINE. IT WAS BRUTAL, IT WAS BLOODY, BUT IT WAS ALSO TOUCHING. SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SUPERHERO MOVIE WITH A LOT OF MEAT ON ITS BONES, THIS WAS THE PERFECT MOVIE. IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM THIS YEAR SO FAR AND, HONESTLY, IT'D BE HARD FOR THEM TO TOP IT WITH ANYTHING ELSE IN MARVEL RIGHT NOW. IT'S BASICALLY THE DARK KNIGHT OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. SO IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU HAVEN'T SEEN LOGAN, DEFINITELY PICK IT UP. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. SO THAT'S IT FOR THIS WEEK. TUNE IN EVERY WEEK ON WCBI DOT COM UNDER THE NEWS 4 US TAB TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR NEWSROOM AND TO FIND OUT WHAT'S COMING OUT IN THEATERS AND ON BLU RAY. I'M EVAN FOX AND THIS HAS BEEN YOUR MIDWEEK MOVIE PREVIEW.
