Two musicians, Noah and Isaac, join Matt and Heather on the stage to talk about the upcoming performance and provide a sneak peak of some of the tunes http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/6952964?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WCIA ask for myself as well unless other veterans, we hope we can relax these guys enough to break down those walls and get the help they need >>heather: he's a little puppy with a very big job. helping veterans after they serve our country. >>matt: it will be great. you are watching ciliving on wcia 3 at home in your community. stay tuned. >>heather: your favorite animated classic cartoon theme songs will suit be taking center stage. the bugs bunny theme song or toy story. >>matt: the urbana pops orchestra will perform in your community. - joing us. good to have you all. tell us about the pops. >> we've been around for 7-8 years. the point of the group is we are educationally centered. we are not a traditional orchestra in the sense that we are a performance-based orchestra. we take a number of student interns every year. point is on-the-job training. that's kind of our whole point. >>heather: usually when you think orchestra, you think traditional tunes but you mix it up. >> we do film scores, our concert this weekend is all cartoons. back in the day, they used classical tunes and brought them to life with animation. then we will feature a singer, stephen larson. we are also premiering our competition contest winner. >>matt: how do you plan out what you will perform? you are always doing something different, innovative and fun. it's not really that hard. >>matt: would you agree that this is what you like? >> very much so. >> i think noah was at our concert when he was 11 years old. know what is currently a school of music student in illinois. isaac is going to northwestern in the fall. a vast majority of our students go on to be music students somewhere in college. >>heather: my kids are getting ready to enter the band and school. for you too, we've got saxophone and drums on the list. when did you all start playing? >> i started when i was four. >> i started in fourth grade. >>matt: you don't have to be a prodigy. you learn and you practice. what is it about this kind of music? if you are both performing and playing instruments in college. what is it that's special about performing pops versus some of the other stuff you do? >> you can reach a larger audience. with people that would not generally watch and orchestra play for an hour -and-a-half. people who enjoy entertainment. >> it's a good way to trick people into classical music. the symphony orchestra format right now is 100 years old. we need to change the way we do things. it's a good way to show people that they already appreciate classical music, they just appreciated in a different form. june 10 at the urbana high school auditorium. it's totally free. kid friendly. we won't ask you to turn your phones off, not to cough. you can
