http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12449/6953652?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Fri, 09 Jun 2017 06:28:25 +0000 Sports June 8th Thursday An Anchorage hockey player prepares for college, Ostrander sets her sights on the NCAA championship, and the fishing queen goes looking for some kings on the Deshka. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12449/6953652?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTUU the stanley cup finals in pittsburgh tonight series tied at two games a piece. many considering this a must win for the penguins. they say don't poke the bear.don't poke the penguins. pittsburgh on the power play early.sidney crosby to justin schultz for the one timer.penguins taking the lead and never looking back. shutting out the predators six to nothing and are just one win away from another stanley cup. speaking of playoff hockey.... anchorage's gage mackie led the aberdeen wings to the north american hockey league final 4. today he signed his national letter of intent to play division one hockey at arizona state university. mackie told channel 2 that it felt amazing since it was a year earlier then expected after roster spots opened up due to injury. his hockey career includes playing at south anchorage high school before spending the rest of high school at shattucks st. mary in minnesota since graduating shattucks he spent a season in the british columbia hockey league before playing last season with aberdeen. the best part about college is you get the summer off..but not for these guys. bucs and pilots facing off in their first game of the season. players still trickling in from their college season as the nc double a tournament wraps up first pilots cameron thompson check swing ground ball to second.and that would be good enough to score will brenan. pilots on the board first. two batters later cuba bess..can't draw it up any better.opposite field base hit good enough to score his pal malcom tipler.pilots up four. still in the first.. chris mccready getting greedy..a bases clearing triple. glacier blue putting up a nine spot in the first and would continue to roll winning this game twelve to four. as another school year comes to a close atheltic departments take inventory on how they did. the seawolves and the g-nac conference leading the way yet again. u-a-a finishing 20th in the learfield directors cup standings along with western washington and simon fraser. the directors cup standings are based upon each schools finish nationaly in 20 nc double a sports. three schools in the top-20 is the most out of any division two conference. on the division one level....nc double a outdoor track and field championships kenai's allie ostrander qualifying for both the 3 thousand meter steeplechase and 5 thousand meter finals for bosie state today. the finals will take place saturday...she'll have total of ninety minutes to rest between races. its time again for our weekly installment of the fishing report this time kari bustamante ventures north to the deshka river...as the queen of the river, looks for king salmon its better to be lucky than good...but it's best...when you can be both --colton conner of drifterz paradise has proven again...and again...that if there's kings in the deshka, he's gonna find em "its been slow yesterday we hooked one, the other day hooked four, the runs good theres 237 through the weir on the 29th deshka is up big su is down so thats holding the fish up but they are here" --while colton says we are still early in the run "it's cold...real cold" --timing has yet to be an issue...
