"we knew that this was a must win, to get to the tournament and get a good seed, so we knew this was a big game and we came through at the end. four games up in fairbanks this weekend, and those are important games also." the end of the regualr season is july twenty third, and the state tournament begins july 25th through the 29th at mulcahy stadium. legion ball not the only ones winding down...alaska baseball league only has three weeks left in it's season. here are some scores from tonight. miners edging out game one against the bucs.....one to nothing behind a nine inning shutout from john doxakis....he has a point five e- r-a on the season. mat-su taking the lead the four to three in game two that game still in action. oiler leading the chinooks by six that game as well still going on. from baseball to basketball two time nba all- star carlos boozer will be back hometown holding a summer hoops camp at juneau douglas high school. these are photos from the last time boozer was home at home for his camp. it begins on july 31st and goes until to august fourth. the camp is for kids ages five to eighteen, and it cost one hundred and fifty dollars. boozer spent this last season in the chinese basketball association, after sitting out the 2016 season. in all he spent 15 seasons in the n- b-a winning both a bronze and gold medals in the olympics with team usa. lastly tonight...... in this week's fishing report photojournalist sean wilson heads to the kenai river where folks are filling their nets full of salmon. only residents of alaska are allowed to go dipnetting...histor ically the best sockeye runs peak in the second and third weeks of july. limits are 25 sockeyes per head of household, and 10 more for each additional member of your household plus one kenai king salmon more than 20 inches in length, and 10 kings smaller than that. even if your not getting out in the water some people say it's a good opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends. "i don't know it's kind of relaxing. plus my kids i have a 20,18, and 13 year old who actually take the nets now. i actually sit up here for moral support .... ....help them with the fish cleaning and stuff. they are actually out there doing the net, and they love to do it. they look forward to it every year.
