Local cyclists gather to honor Albert Benavidez, Sr. Mon, 17 Jul 2017 17:02:14 +0000 Memorial Ride Local cyclists gather to honor Albert Benavidez, Sr. KLBK course were family, close friends but also these fellow motorcyclists. some knew him -- some did not-- but that didn't matter... they all just wanted to gather in memory of a fallen brother and ride alongside him one last time... outside of st. joseph's catholic church this morning -- dozens of motorcyclists pulled up to ride in unity. "look twice save lives" of lubbock organized the memorial ride. they even held a barbecue over the weekend and sold t-shirts, with all proceeds going to the benavidez family. they say events like this are a tragic way reminder for other drivers to share the roads -- and be aware of motorcyclists. john reynolds, motorcyclist, benavidez's friend "it touches your heart, to know that eveyrone respects him. motorcyclists are like a big family, just like albert he's a great man, just like any of these brothers here would do the same for anyone else." camron munger james wright, look twice save lives "this is becoming a normal situation which it shouldnt be. we're all out, we've all got families." james wright, look twice save lives "man, just open your eyes, look out for us, that one single headlight carries somebody's entire world. like i said, we have families we're trying to go home to too." leslie this morning's ride began after the funeral service -- from the church everyone rode out to "peaceful gardens memorial cemetery." organizers with "looking twice save lives" say they encourage more people to get involved with them -- riders and non-riders. brittany new details
