(--melanie--) welcome back...the center for science in the public interest has just released its top 2017 extreme eating awards this morning....and some of these meals...might put a little more badunk in your trunk..... erika edwards reports. most people wouldn't dream of eating 5 bacon double cheeseburgers from burger king all at once ....but at buffalo wild wings... you'd consume even more calories by eating just one cheese curd bacon burger and fries.(sot: lindsay moyer - senior nutritionist - center for science in the public interest )"we're seeing high calorie mash-ups from restaurants all over their menus.the center for science in the public interest has released its annual 'x-treme eating awards.' ---winners include the carnivore pizzadilla from dave and busters.the cheeseburger omelet with a side of three pancakes from well as chili's ultimate smokehouse combo.(sot: lindsay moyer - senior nutritionist - center for science in the public interest )"all of the entree's we looked at have about a days calories or more. that's 2-thousand calories."at well over 2-thousand calories, the cheesecake factory's pasta napoletana is topped with italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni and meatballs.(sot: lindsay moyer - senior nutritionist - center for science in the public interest )"these meals are extreme but even the typical restaurant meals are a threat to american's health because they increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease." in response -- the national restaurant association offered a statement saying the group has "led the effort to implement a national standard for menu labeling so that our customers can make informed decisions on their dining choices." dietitians say watch out for portion size.(sot: lindsay malone - clinical dietitian - cleveland clinic ) "you don't have to eat the whole thing yourself. you can share it with other people or you can bring it home with you and enjoy the next day."the cheesecake factory agrees. a spokeswoman provided a statement saying: "we love it when guests share. that's a great sign that our portions are generous. and a large percentage of our guests take home leftovers."erika edwards, nbc news.(--melanie--)thanks erika! (--melanie--)and avocado lovers have another reason to eat one today.... or to partake in some chips and guacamole....that's because today is national avocado day....according to the hass avocado board, as of 2015, avocado consumption in the u-s doubled since 2005.... to more than four billion avocado is a fruit.... and more specifically.... a large berry containing a single seed.
