With nearly their entire roster returning, the Danville Ironmen are poised to be one of the area's best teams in 2017. This marks the second straight season Danville has started the year in our top ten, as they go for a district four title. Hear from head coach Jim Keiser, quarterback Peyton Riley, and linebacker Preston Fausnaught. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7054370?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WBRE ((a.j.))we've reached the second half of our high school football top ten countdown -- which means it's officially week 1 of the regular season. that also means it's time to reveal our number 5 team, which will try to use experience to its advantage in 2017.number 5, the danville ironmen.for the danville ironmen there's strength in numbers...especially when you have almost your entire roster back. <<jim keiser -- danville head coach>>"they're going to be a more confident group then they were least year, i mean we were 7-5 last year, we're still disappointed about that, but we made it to the district championship game but again i think the kids are more confident, more focused, really upset about the loss in the district title game and they want to get back there and prove they are a better team." on the offensive side of the ball -- there's ten returning starters including junior quarterback peyton riley...and head coach jim keiser says riley's heightened confidence combined with kids who can make plays -- will make this offense more exciting...<<jim keiser -- danville head coach>>"we've always been a running team, the wing t, now we might spread it out a little more because we have a kid who can throw the ball really well, we've got some great guys on the perimeter who can catch the football this year and we're hoping that's going to enhance our offense."<<peyton riley -- junior qb/safety>> "first off it gives our ones a break and gives our seconds to show us what we got, we want to win gold, make a run into states and see what we can make out of that."<<robin deehan -- eyewitness sports>> "one of the biggest threats of this danville team is it's defense, with 11 returning starters it has improved speed physicality and experience." <<jim keiser -- danville head coach>>"we're really really excited about our defense, we're really quick on the defensive line, our linebackers will be quicker, they'll get to the ball, we're talented in the secondary but the main strength is our d line they're really big, they're quick. they're really aggressive."and that excitement trickles down to those defensive players -- who tell us they're ready to leave it all on the field. <<preston fausnaught -- junior lb/ol>> "to be blunt we like to hit, fill holes, run our feet, finish off the blocks, try to get as many pancakes as we can."in danville i'm robin deehan for eyewitness sports. we only have four teams to go in the countdown -- 2 are from the heartland conference like danville, 1 is from the schuylkill league, and 1 from the lackawanna league. we'll have team number 4
